The Tumbler Ridge News reports that a B.C. Hydro transmission tower has become destabilized.
Hydro spokesman Dave Conway, says a contingency service plan is being finalized in case the 230 kilovolt power line is compromised.
It is 68 kilometers south of the WAC Bennet Dam, between Hudson’s Hope and Chetwynd and included among the customers the line serves, are the residents of Tumbler Ridge, and several industrial customers adjacent to Highway 29.
This incident in the Peace Region comes just a week after a transmission line collappsed crossing the Fraser River just west of the Port Mann Bridge in Surrey.
Hydro will monitor the situation and provide more information as it becomes available.
