This holiday season, all of our Supporters are entered to win an $800 Shopping Spree Giveaway!

The B.C. River Forecast Centre issued the flood watch Friday morning after Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning for the areas, forecasting up to 80 millimetres of rain over a 24-hour period.

The Centre says river water levels have not yet begun to rise, but smaller creeks and streams, which feed into the rivers, have probably begun to rise and the rivers could reach the top of their banks by Saturday. It says all rivers in the Southeast Peace, including the Kiskatinaw and the Pouce Coupe, are being closely monitored.

The rain began Thursday evening and 12-hour precipitation numbers have been recorded at various locations, with amounts ranging from between 8 mm on the Moberly River to 24 mm at Hudson’s Hope.
