British Columbia’s Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development is investing $91 million, which will help deliver essential services, as well as ensure residents’ safety.
This investment is the second instalment of the Province’s Strategic Community Investment Fund (SCIF). The first instalment of $60 million was released in March 2011.
The money includes advance payments of Small Community and Regional District Grants, as well as the Traffic fine Revenue Sharing Program.
Minister Ida Chong, says “the SCFI is all about creating safer, healthier, more liveable and resilient communities that allow B.C. families to thrive. It also gives local governments more certainty about their fiscal future.”
In the Peace, Fort St. John received $415,694, Taylor received $258,702, Dawson Creek received $465,388, Chetwynd received $322,061 and Hudson’s Hope received $249,180.
