Several more students in the Prince George-Peace River riding will be getting the opportunity to gain work experience and earn money after the Government of Canada announced an increase in funding to its Canada Summer Jobs initiative.

Local Conservative MP Bob Zimmer announced the funding boost, Monday, which provides $362,731 for 85 student positions across the riding.

Zimmer says the additional funding will help students gain experience and develop skills to function in the current labour market.

Across the country, the 2011 budget for the Canada Summer Jobs initiative has received an additional $10 million.

The funding is distributed to various not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses.

Any student between the age of 15 and 30 is eligible to apply.
