Celebrating Canada's 144th birthday in Fort St. John

 

From laser tag to face painting, music and finally, fireworks, Canada Day will be filled with various family-friendly activities in Fort St. John.

The day will begin with the annual parade at 11 a.m. Once the one-hour parade has finished, various activities will take place in Centennial Park until 4 p.m.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., there will also be a variety of activities for families in the field adjacent to North Peace Secondary School, including a magician and a concert by 9 Mile. Then, the City will be putting on a fireworks display, starting at 10:30 p.m.

City staff are also reminding residents of road closures throughout the day.

On Friday, 100 St. between 93 Ave and 96 Ave. will be closed from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.

As well, 100 Ave. from 100 St. to 96 St. will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Certain streets will also be closed for the parade. Starting at 11 a.m., the parade route leaves the North Peace Arena, heads north on 100 St., turns east on 108 Ave., then south on 98 Ave., east on 101 Ave., south on 96 St. and will end on 96 Ave.
