Woman facing charges after Grande Prairie stabbing

A 23 year-old woman is facing several charges, including attempted murder, after a fight Monday morning in Grande Prairie.

Police say they were called out to a residence just before 2 a.m. after Jennifer Kennedy attempted to confront someone because of “an issue”. The two had been at a party earlier in the evening before it was broken up.

The unidentified victim tried to intervene and was stabbed several times. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and is currently in a Grande Prairie area hospital.

Kennedy is also accused of damaging a vehicle before leaving the area.

She was later arrested close by. She is charged with attempted murder, mischief and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. She is set to make her first court appearance on Wednesday.
