Police officers from across B.C. will be taking part in the Cops for Cancer Tour de North.

The six-day cycle starts in Fort St. John on Sept. 9 and ends in Williams Lake on the 15th.

Four Fort St. John RCMP officers will be participating in the Tour. Constables Shawn Ingham, Josh Smith and Josh Martyn, as well as Inspector Pat Egan will all be taking on the challenge.

Part of the funds raised through the Tour go to support Camp Goodtimes, which offers programs for children and their families who are facing the battle against childhood cancer. Families are able to stay at the camp without incurring any personal financial costs.

The Canadian Cancer Society estimates that 130 children in B.C. are diagnosed with cancer each year, of which 24 will not survive.
