As of Sunday morning, the Peace Region is mopping up from the record rainstorms over the past few days. As a result, several major roads in the Peace Region remain closed, including the Pine Pass between Chetwynd and Mackenzie.

At this time there is no estimate on how long the highway will be closed for, but some indications say it could be closed until the end of the week.

In the meantime, the detour to reach the rest of the province, is to travel through Alberta to Grande Prairie and south through Jasper. Under normal conditions this route would take 8-9 hours to reach Prince George from Fort St. John.

Highway 29 between Chetwynd and Hudson’s Hope is also closed due to a bridge washout.

Drivebc.com is reporting that there is no estimated time of opening for either road.
