School District 60 will get a grant from the Province to research student engagement and achievement for rural students.


The Province will provide SD 60 with $12,500 for research project on how to boost student engagement and improve achievement for rural learners.

According to a press release from the Province, the Districts Energetic Learning Campus in the Pomeroy Sport Centre will look at how a healthy living environment and personal fitness affects student absenteeism, test scores, collaboration skills, student engagement and school culture.

The Province will be funding 17 research projects through the Growing Innovation program.

UBC graduate students will offer support and provide resources that may help districts and schools assess the effectiveness of their projects allowing schools throughout the province to learn from one another.
