UPDATE High school student dies in accident

UPDATE Fort St. John RCMP say they responded to a call at a home in the Baldonnel area around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

They say they do not believe the 16 year-old student’s death is suspicious.

A student at North Peace Secondary School has died in an accident.

The student died Thursday in an accident outside of school, although details about the student or the circumstances around his death have not been released.

Vice Principal Sheldon Steele says the school has counsellors on hand to help students, teachers and staff through the grieving process. Although classes are still running normally, the school has provided spaces for students to grieve together.

Steele says the student was well known and his death is not only affecting the school but also people in the community.
