Dinner to recognize emergency services personnel

A ‘Heroes Mess Dinner’ is set to honour local and national emergency services personnel and fundraise for a special organization that helps them if they are ever injured.

The military-style formal dinner will recognize local and national emergency services personnel, as well as volunteers. Furthermore, there will be a silent auction fundraiser with the proceeds going to Honour House, a place in Vancouver which offers free temporary accommodations for emergency services personnel who are injured in the line of work. They are able to stay at the house while they receive medical treatment.

Dan Davies is one of the event organizers and says Captain Ron Myers, an American army officer will be a guest of honour and speaker at the event. Myers will be in Fort St. John for the Juneteenth celebrations and a memorial at the Sikinna Chief River Bridge.

The dinner and fundraiser event will be happening Saturday at the Quality Inn in Fort St. John. Although most tickets have been sold out, Davies says there may be one or two still available at a cost of $70.
Anyone interested in attending can contact Dan Davies at 250-787-5847.
