A group of advisors are helping small businesses in Northeast B.C. save money on utility costs.
Eco Advisors with the Northern Environmental Action Team (NEAT) will be giving free energy assessments, designed to help Northeast B.C. business owners gain access to available product incentives, cash rebates, as well as co-ordinate new product installation.
NEAT’s Eco Advisors will be working directly with smaller businesses, helping them identify potential costs and energy saving opportunities, including lighting, hot water, heating and ventilation.
The group of advisors will also help businesses gain access to available incentives of the LiveSmart B.C. Small Business Program. This program includes utility incentives, as well as direct installments of energy efficient equipment.
According to Fort St. John Mayor Bruce Lantz, “such assessments are a great way to bridge the gap between a business owner’s wish to do the right thing environmentally and their need to pay attention to their bottom line. Making energy efficiency affordable is a great way to do this.”
The LiveSmart B.C.: Small Business Program has been projected to save businesses across the province more than $7 million each year in utility costs.
Jarrod Bell, president of NEAT, says his organization “is excited to work with LiveSmart B.C. to provide support to our small business community in adopting sustainable actions that will help the environment and save on the bottom line.”
The Business Energy Advisors are based in Fort Nelson, Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Chetwynd. They say they will help small businesses in these communities spend less than $50,000 a year on electricity.
