Trial to be held for man accused in father's murder

After a preliminary inquiry, a 28 year-old man accused in the death of his father will now be standing trial in Grande Prairie.

Matthew Crichton is charged with first degree murder in the death of his father, Alex Crichton.

He was charged last September after his 73 year-old father was found dead at a rural residence near Grovedale, Alta. on Sept. 3.

The Forensic Identification Section, the General Investigation section, Edmonton Major Crime, the Police Dog Service and general duty members from Grande Prairie were all on scene during the investigation.

Police say Crichton is not currently in custody, but has conditions he must abide by before his arraignment hearing on June 13.
