Fort St. John RCMP have identified a suspect after two robberies on Sunday.

Police say they responded to a call just after 10 p.m. of a robbery in progress at the Cedar Lodge Motor Inn where a young male had jumped over a counter and hit a female employee with a baseball bat.

The woman suffered a broken hand and the man left with a small amount of change.

The male was described as Caucasian and was wearing a black hoodie.

Then, an hour later, police responded to another call of a robbery in progress at the V&M Qmart Convenience store where a suspect tried to take money from the cash register.

The male was described as around 17 years-old, with red hair and fair skin. He is approximately 5’9” and weighs 150 lbs. He was also wearing a black hoodie at the time of the incident.

Police say they believe the two robberies are related.
