Three local students are being given the chance to attend a prestigious program this summer.
The three students from Fort St. John and Cecil Lake were chosen from more than 1,000 students across Canada and will be attending the Shad Valley program in July.
Jacquie Gulevich, Daniel Zackodnik and Tim Wenger will have the opportunity to go to one of 10 universities, stay in residence and participate in workshops, lectures and teambuilding activities. The three are all students at North Peace Secondary School and will be attending the program along with 500 students in grades 10, 11 and 12 from across the country.
According to Shad Valley, acceptance to the program is extremely competitive and chosen students have a high academic standing in the sciences, math or engineering, along with demonstrated leadership abilities. The program also offers financial bursaries and scholarships to certain students.
These students will be given a head start in experiencing university life and for their future careers.
