Usually, the summer season is not a common time to sharpen your on ice skills.

Although, do not tell that to the people of the North Peace Alumni Hockey School, who are excited to announce their 2011 summer development camp dates. The camps will be taking place this August at the Fort St. John Pomeroy Sport Centre and is offering a wide variety of camps and clinics for developing hockey skills.

The Hockey School will be for children ages five and up and is for players of all skill levels. It will be running from August 8-12, from 8 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. The cost to participate is $275.

The schools Elite Camp, designed for children years nine and up for rep players and rep hopefuls, will be running August 13 and 14. This program will consist of two groups, Group A will run from 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and Group B will run from 10:30 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. This cost of the program is $150.

A shooting clinic will also be involved at the Hockey School, designed for children five and up of all skill levels. This portion of the camp runs August 13 and 14, with Group A taking place from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. and Group B from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The cost of the shooting clinic is $50.

For children Ages nine and up, a hitting clinic will also be available. This camp is designed for children of all ages and runs August 13 and 14 from 4:15 to 5:15. This portion of the camp costs $50.

Also being held is an off ice conditioning camp, which is specifically designed for teens 15 and up of high skill level. This portion runs from August 7 to 11, taking place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and costs $125.

Finally, due to popular demand, this year the school will be adding a goalie clinic. The new clinic is for children ages five and up for goalies of all skill levels. It runs from August 8 to 12, from 3:30 to 4:30. The portion of the program is $50 if signed up for the School and $150 if not signed up.

Brad Fast will once again be returning to be part of the on-ice staff.

Due to high demands for these programs, it is important to register early as to guarantee a spot. The program has sold out the previous four years.
