After completing the seven-stage Spring Stage Race, cyclists took a short break before gearing up for a Sunday event.
Thursday’s final stage of the race, the 16 km Baldonnel time trail, was won by Colter Young with a time of 24:06 minutes. Second place went to Kevin Shaw, who finished with a time of 27:26 and Pat Ferris place third at 29:01.
With Thursday’s win, Colter Young was crowned the winner of the entire Spring Stage Race, finishing with 25 points. Kevin Shaw finished second with 24 points, Pat Ferris third with 18 points, with George Gamble and Les Elliot finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Then, on Sunday, the club took part in a 24.2 km race, as racers competed for the 27th Blizzard Trophy. Colter Young emerged victorious Sunday, with the fastest time of 36:07. Kevin Shaw place second with a time of 41:23 and Roger St. Jean third at 43:56.
On the women’s side of the event, Barb Polehoykie won the Phoenix Trophy, with a time of 48:57. Christina Woodruff was second at 1:01:37 and Dian Loro at 1:11:27.
Sunday’s third trophy, the Under 19 trophy, was won by Kesley Young, with a time of 58:51.
The next event for the Blizzard Bike Club will be the first duathlon of the year, which takes place Tuesday, May 3 at 7 p.m. and begins at the Bladonnel School.
