Fort St. John RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance to identify a child that was seen running around in the ditch on the North Taylor Hill.

Police say they received a call from a resident who had seen a young boy between 10 and 12 years-old running around in the ditch near the Baldonnel overpass at 12:30 p.m. and again on the North Taylor Hill just before 2 p.m. on Friday. When the boy saw the caller, he ran into nearby bushes.

Police tried unsuccessfully to locate the boy using the K-9 unit and by asking residents in Taylor if they could identify him.

The boy is described as Caucasian, with brown hair and was wearing a tan t-shirt and jeans.

Although they do not believe the boy was lost or in any danger, police say the situation is concerning.

They are asking anyone who can identify the boy to contact the Fort St. John RCMP detachment at 250-787-8140 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
