Peace region residents participated in the first HST Tele-Town Hall Wednesday night.
Transportation Minister and MLA for Peace River South Blair Lekstrom, hosted the Tele-Town Hall with several questions from Peace region residents. Listed phone numbers across the Peace were called and residents had the opportunity to listen to the Tele-Town Hall and ask questions of the Minster.
The questions raised ranged from how the tax would affect Northern residents as compared to Southern B.C. residents to how this region is affected by cross border shopping.
Most of the participants stated they understood the benefits to businesses in B.C., but wanted to know how the Province and the HST would help individual people.

When asked how residents could go about making changes to the HST, the Minister stated participating in the Tele-Town Halls was the first step.

The next Tele-Town Hall will happen Thursday night in the Kootenay’s and parts of the Lower Mainland. If you have further questions about the HST the Province has created the website www.hstinbc.ca with more details about the tax.
