It’s been less than a year since Peace River South MLA Blair Lekstrom walked away from his position as BC ‘S Energy Minister, and from the governing Liberal caucus, citing his opposition to the roll out, or lack therefore, of the Harmonized Sales Tax.

Speaking yesterday on Issues and Answers he made it clear that he’s now supporting the tax, because the new Christy Clark Liberal government is doing what the old Gordon Campbell administration, didn’t do, prior to implementing tax and that is, engaging BC voters in a meaningful tax discussion.
Asked, if that process doesn’t lead to the death of HST, if it could, at least lead to changes, in tax…he said this…

Mr. Lekstrom, rejoined the Grit caucus, following Clark’s leadership victory in February.

As Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure he’s now ready to join others in his party promoting the tax, in the debate leading up to this summer’s referendum.
