Today marks the half point in April and already we’ve exceeded both the monthly snowfall and precipitation totals.
Yesterday the local airport recorded, as of 11 o’clock last night, 11.7 centimeters and 11.7 millimeters respectively.
Added to what we received earlier this week, that leaves the unofficial monthly totals at about 24 centimeters and 24 millimeters.
Given what’s fallen since then, the snowfall total is about 2 and half times the monthly norm of 10.6 centimeters…and the precipitation total is anywhere from five to ten millimeters more than the April average of 18.8.
We’re also unofficially now sitting at more than 155 millimeters for the year.
That’s close to 70 more, than the local area norm, for the first four months of a calendar year…and also more than two and half times last year’s total, of 57.2 millimeters for the same four month period.
However, again we note, it is still too early to wash away the possibility of another drought year, as the next four months are the local area keys in that regard…with an average precipitation total of more than 250 millimeters.
