Fort St. John residents will have the privilege to learn first hand what it takes to participate in a triathlon from a professional competitor.

Olympic Triathlete Paul Tichelaar will be visiting the city to conduct a beginner and intermediate triathlon seminar.

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in starting up in the sport, anyone curious as to what it takes to compete in this type of race and even for individuals with experience in triathlon. Tichelaar is an Olympic athlete who placed 8th at the last Olympic Games.

Residents will be able to participate in a spin class, along with a swimming lesson which will focus on proper techniques used in triathlons.

The event will take place Saturday, March 5, in room 217 (2nd Floor) of the Pomeroy Sport Centre, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The seminar can accommodate between 40 and 50 people and is free of charge.

However, anyone wishing to participate must bring their own bikes, running shoes as well as a bathing suit.

Anyone who wants to attend the seminar must register by Mar. 4 at Ferris Fast Cycles.

People can contact Ferris Fast Cycles at 250-785-3711 or check the company’s website here.
