The game of Poker usually does not involve the outdoors or snowmobiles, however the Northland Trailblazers have chosen to combine all three.

The organization will be hosting its annual Poker Run on Feb 6 and the fundraiser will star at Mile 80 of the Alaska Highway. The trail will run more than 20 kilometres to Inga Lake and riders will receive cards at various stops along the way. At the end, poker hands will be compared, with the best hands taking home a variety of prizes.

The event has become somewhat of a tradition for the riding club and according to President Jadon Christianson, as many as 90 sleds took part in the run last year.

Christianson says anyone interested in taking part in the festivities should show up between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the 80 mile rest area marker of the Alaska Highway to register.

The event costs $10 per hand for non members and $5 a hand for club members.

After the ride to Inga Lake, a free lunch will be provided for participants.

Sunday is expected to be a mildly chilly day, with the temperature projected to be around -11 degrees.
