The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation has received a generous donation from the Junior Sports Centre Committee.
The $100,000 donation was presented by the Committee’s President Rob Alexander to the Foundation.
Ashley Bentley, the executive director of the Foundation says the money will be placed in the hospital’s Endowment Fund.
The generous donation originally belonged to the Kid’s Arena. However, due to the Arena’s closure, Alexander and the other committee members decided the balance of their funds should be given to the Foundation.
Alexander explains his reasoning, saying “we wanted to see the money to go to an organization that will have a lasting benefit for many community members. Our Members thought the Foundation’s Endowment Fund was the best choice, as the money will continue to benefit the community for many years.”
Bentley says the hospital employees had no knowledge of the donation and were thrilled when Alexander personally delivered the news Wednesday morning.
According to Bentley, this is one of the largest donations the hospital has received. Everyone involved is extremely grateful for being considered and the money will be able to benefit the community for many years to come.
