UPDATE #3 – The Alaska Highway has been re-opened between Fort Nelson and Prophet River. The road has been reduced to single-lane alternating traffic in the area of the collision. Â The accident should be cleaned up within the next hour.

UPDATE #2 –Â The Alaska Highway should be open shortly between Fort Nelson and Prophet River. The latest update states the vehicles are being towed from the scene. A further update will be provided at 2:30pm

UPDATE – According to Fortnelsonstuff.com, the Alaska Highway has been closed because of a collision between a two semi-trucks near the CCS Landfill just south of the Spectra facility in Fort Nelson.

The Alaska Highway has been closed between Fort Nelson and Prophet River.
Public Works and Government Services Canada has not provided any reason why the highway has been closed or a time when the road will be open.
At this time, they state the next update on the road will happen at 1pm our time.
