Huskies Win Comes At A Cost

The Fort St. John Huskies might be considered lucky for skating away with an exciting 7-6 overtime victory against the Sexsmith Vipers on Friday night. However, in terms of injuries, the Huskies were as lucky as a Black Cat in a Rick DiPietro jersey. (In laments terms: Not Lucky)

The Pups were paced by Aaron Dendy’s as he cashed in with a Hat-Trick and a helper for 4 points. The Huskied went ahead 4-1 early in the 2nd as Dendy’s potted his second of the game. Three straight goals by the Vipers tied it at 4 before Dendy’s notched the Hat-Tosser to make it 5-4 after 40 minutes.

Midway through the 3rd Sexsmith knotted the score at 5-5 before Robbie Sidhu scored the go ahead marker with 6 minutes remaining. Then with only 47 seconds left, the Vipers forced overtime on a great shot from the top of the circle.

In Overtime, Cody Hildebrand put an end to this incredible game with the winner. The win also gives the Huskies the season series against the Vipers 3-2. Cole Calieou left the game in the 3rd and did not return. The Huskies were already without talented Defensemen Cash Brinkworth and Payden Wongstedt due to injuries.

The next game for FSJ is Saturday night in Whitecourt against the NP leading Wolverines. Catch the Pre-Game show with Mike Feeney LIVE at 7:45. Puck Drop goes at 8:00 on 100.1 Moose FM and energeticcity-beta.mystagingwebsite.com.
