The adrenaline rush brought upon by hockey just isn’t cutting anymore for one of the Fort St. John Flyers.
As a result, Adam Horst will strap on the pads and compete in this year’s Red Bull Crashed Ice event in Europe and Canada.
The event is comprised of four separate races – three of which will take place in Europe – and one final race happening in Quebec.
The players are scored based on a point system. The points are awarded based on their final position at the end of each race.
Horst is no rookie to the sport. He raced in the Quebec leg of the race last year and finished in fifth place. His fifth place finish earned him enough points to participate in all four events this year.
The first race will take place in Munich, Germany on Jan. 15. The event then moves to Valkenburg, Netherlands on Feb.5, then to Moscow, Russia on Feb. 26.
The final leg of the race will bring Horst back to where his Crashed Ice career began, Quebec, which takes place on Mar. 19. According to an interview done by Red Bull, Horst says that this is the event he’s most excited for because he’ll get to race in his home country and racing in Quebec has already awarded him success.
