A pedestrian is lucky to be alive after an incident Friday afternoon in Fort St. John.

On Jan. 7, at approximately 4 p.m., the Fort St. John RCMP were called to the intersection of 100th avenue and the West Bypass Road. An 18 year-old male had crossed 100th avenue from Chances Gaming Centre to the West Bypass Road.

The male did not see a white SUV that was westbound on 100th avenue and walked into the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The SUV immediately stopped.   The male was knocked down and was tended to by the driver of the SUV and other persons until B.C. Ambulance and Fort St. John Fire Rescue arrived on scene.

The male suffered non-life threatening injuries and the SUV was lightly damaged.   The driver of the SUV was released and drove away from the scene.   The male crossing 100 avenue was not at a crosswalk.
