Troyer Ventures, Moose FM and the Salvation Army are once again teaming up to hold the 7th annual Troyer Toy Drive in Fort St. John.
The Drive will be held at the Home Hardware Building Centre on Friday from 12 – 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to drop off packaged toys. The Salvation Army already has plenty of toys for children between the ages of 5 and 12, says Capt. Isobel Lippers with the Fort St. John organization.
However, Lippers says the organization is in desperate need of gifts for both young children under the age of four and teenagers over 12 years-old.
Teenagers can be hard to shop for and she suggests purchasing gift cards in place of toys. Some of the items that can be purchased for teenagers are gift cards for iTunes, local clothing stores, Blockbuster or movie passes. She also says purchasing items like swimming, skating or bowling passes can be a great idea.
Furthermore, Lippers says a toy tree has been set up in Wal-Mart. Customers can take a tag off the tree that will provide a child’s age and gender. They can then purchase something for the child and either drop it off at the customer service area of the store or take it to the Salvation Army location on 100 Ave.
For residents that cannot make it out to the toy drive at the end of the week, Santa’s Sleigh is now set up inside the Home Hardware for anyone to drop off toys.
