A new industry-wide program will help focus worker attention on local concerns regarding upstream oil and gas activities in B.C.
The upstream oil and gas industry launched the Community Partners program in Fort St. John, Tuesday.
Petroleum Services Association of Canada President Mark Salkeld says the program was created in response to a community survey that showed residents affected by the oil and gas industry were disheartened by some worker’s behaviour.
Peace River North MLA Pat Pimm says the program will provide an opportunity for industry members to tackle specific concerns.
Officials say the program will ensure industry workers address local concerns such as dust, garbage, noise and traffic with residents in specific areas affected by the industry.
Furthermore, they say it will remind workers to discuss problems with residents, while also respecting them and their properties.
