B.C. Hydro crews spent time this weekend making over two homes in Fort St. John.

Hydro picked two homes that had old incandescent Christmas lights and provided them with LED lights.  The PowerSmart crews took down the old lights and put up the new ones.

According to Hydro representatives a 50 light string of incandescent lights will cost about $23 dollars to run for one month.   A new LED string of 50 lights will cost 28 cents for the same time period.

On top of the makeover, Hydro along with NEAT and the Celebrate Fort St. John Committee spent the day collecting incandescent lights at Home Hardware.   Over 1,000 pounds of lights were collected and will be recycled.

Hydro will be doing the same kind of makeover in the Vancouver and Nanaimo.
