Fort St. John RCMP now confirm that two people have died in a head-on collision on the Cecil Lake Road.

The collision happened 10 km east of Cecil Lake around 8:30 Monday morning.

Police say a 49 year-old female driver from Cecil Lake was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17 year-old male driver of the second vehicle was from the Goodlow area. After the collision he was transported to hospital where he later died.

Neither driver’s name is being released at this time.

Police say they are continuing their investigation but have not yet determined a cause.

They say the BC Coroner Service, a collision reconstructionist and the Peace Region Traffic Services are all participating in the investigation.

Cecil Lake Road has since reopened.
