Mortenson Canada Corporation is expected to begin construction on a new wind project in northeastern B.C.
The company was chosen by Capital Power Corporation to build the Quality Wind Project 10 km northeast of Tumbler Ridge which will be started in mid-November.
Company officials say 79 turbines are planned for the project which is expected to generate more than 140 megawatts of energy when the project is completed by the end of 2012.
Earlier this year, the project received an Electricity Purchase Agreement award from BC Hydro. It also received its environmental assessment certificate from the Province in the summer.
Furthermore, the company is expected to finish the construction of 48 wind turbines near Chetwynd and sell the power generated to BC Hydro.
