Frustration

First of all I should apologize for the lack of blogs posts lately. Since our midday host Luke left to go write commercials in the interior it has been very busy around here for yours truly. It’s not likely to get any easier with several big events and lots of hockey on the way but I will try to post thoughts a little more frequently.

Let’s start with this past weekend in Beaverlodge. Talk about frustrating. All that work to prepare for the game, a couple hours on the bus and time spent getting ready once we were at the arena. Only for the boni to break down on the ice just before warmup. By the time they are cleared the machine off the ice it was in no shape to be skated on. And player safety comes first. So the game was called off and will be replayed at a later date. You can’t really argue with the decision. If it’s not safe to play then there is no reason to send the players out onto the ice.

So it ended up being just a one game weekend for the Pups. A home game on Sunday afternoon against the Slave Lake Wolves that ended 8-6. Chris Sperling with the hatty including the game winner and an empty netter to seal it. The Huskies frustrated for most of the game showing glimpses of being a very good team but only glimpses. The talent is there but the players need to find a way to be more consistent in their effort and their execution.

The first chance to bounce back from that frustrating weekend will be on Saturday as the Pups head to Edson to take on the Whitecourt Wolverines followed by a Sunday afternoon game in Slave Lake. Both those games will be live on 100.1 Moose FM and of course streaming online here at energeticcity-beta.mystagingwebsite.com.

Don’t forget to follow energeticcity on Twitter as Matty keeps you up to date on what’s happening during game via this blog and Twitter. And we will have more info on Whitecourt and Slave Lake for you as the weekend approaches.
