Driver injured in accident near Beatton River

A female has been hurt after the pickup truck she was driving slid off a road around the Beatton River area.

The accident happened around 9 a.m. Monday. Corporal S. Fesenko with the Fort St. John RCMP told that the female was driving behind a Mobile Treatment Centre when her car slid off the road, flipping onto the passenger side.

The woman was pinned in the car and was found lying partially outside the passenger-side window.

Police say the driver of the MTC saw the accident and was able to pull the woman from the vehicle and administer first aid. The MTC driver then took the woman to a spot where a helicopter was able to pick her up and transport her to the Fort St. John Hospital.

The woman is believed to have non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP are still investigating but say an icy road was a factor in the crash. They add that they don’t believe the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
