The local RCMP has now confirmed it is searching for a suspect, following an armed robbery, shortly after 7:30 last night.
It occurred at the Econo Lodge Cold Beer and Wine store, located at 10419 Alaska Road South.
Police say a lone male, armed with a retractable knife, picked up a case of beer from the cooler, before he walked around the counter brandishing the knife, and removed all the cash from the cash register.
He fled the scene on foot, and was last seen heading west toward 107th street.
He’s described as caucasian, about 35 year of age, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build and a pointed nose.
At the time of the robbery he was wearing blue jeans, black toque, jacket and running shoes, as well as black sunglasses.
At this time the RCMP do not believe Thursday’s robbery is connected to an armbed robbery at Munchies Convience Store and one at Veronica’s Closet, both earlier this week.
Police are seeking the public’s help in their search for the suspect, and are taking information assistance calls: at 250-787-8140 and 1-800-222-8477.
