Valleyview RCMP are unsure how many people are dead after a fiery crash near the Young’s Point turnoff.
The accident occurred on Highway 43 shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday, when two vehicles collided head-on. The Edmonton Journal reports a man driving a five-ton cube van, outfitted with firefighting equipment, survived the crash. The driver was forced to cut himself out of his seatbelt to escape the fire.
The severity of the collision and fire means the RCMP are currently unable to confirm the other vehicle involved and the number of occupants.
Highway 43 near the Young’s Point turnoff was closed for most of the day Sunday. If anyone has any information about the accident, to please contact the Valleyview RCMP detachment.
