A trade fair in Fort Nelson is expected to create job opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
Opportunity BC will hold the fair during the annual Energy Expo in the City and its goal is to connect local service-sector businesses with natural gas and petroleum producers, says Energy Minister Bill Bennett.
Opportunity BC is a partnership between the Province and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.
Service-sector companies supply many goods and services to the energy industry and Fort Nelson has been experiencing substantial economic growth due to the shale gas exploration in the area. It is expected the fair will help create various jobs for some of the local companies.
The fair will be held at Fort Nelson Secondary School on Sept. 17 between 1 and 6 p.m. and on Sept. 18 between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
