Dreher qualifies for Canadian open

Kirby Dreher is returning to the CN Canadian Women’s Open.

The Fort St. John native won the final qualification tournament on Monday, to earn one of four spots remaining in the 2010 championship.

On a blustery day at the Elmhurst Golf and Country Club, near Winnipeg, Dreher, Americans Marina Choi and Amie Hartje, and Argentina’s Maria Laura Elvira all shot even-par 72, to claim the final spots in the 156-player field.

The main event at the $2.25 million event will be played at the St. Charles Country Club, in Winnipeg, and will be televised on CBC Bold, CBC, and the Golf Channel.
