The search for two missing men and a vehicle belonging to one of them has concluded with one of the men being charged with murder.
On August 14, 2010, Martin Cook of Grande Prairie and Kenneth Carlson, of Hines Creek, were reported missing to the Fairview RCMP Detachment. Also reported missing was Cook’s 2005 Dodge Dakota truck.
The pair were last seen in Hines Creek on August 12, 2010.
On August 19, 2010 the missing truck was located at a remote oil lease north west of Manning, Alberta. The truck was found in the possession of Kenneth Carlson. Further investigation lead to the location a body at a remote location, west of Hines Creek, in the Peace River Valley.
RCMP will not confirm if the deceased is Martin Cook.
An autopsy will be conducted in Edmonton on Monday, August 23, 2010.
As result of the investigation, Kenneth Carlson has been arrested and charged with one count of Second Degree Murder.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in Provincial Court at Peace River on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 9:30 a.m.
