One dead after accident on the Rolla Road

One person is dead after an accident on the Rolla Road in the South Peace.

At approximately 7:30pm on Friday August 20th, the Dawson Creek RCMP received a call regarding a serious accident on the Rolla Road, just south of Doe River.  RCMP members responded immediately to the scene along with Dawson Creek Fire Rescue and B.C. Ambulance Service.

Once on scene, a 1993 GMC pick-up truck was located off road in a small treed area.  The vehicle had been carrying three occupants.  The driver was located outside of the vehicle with minor injuries.  A 65 year-old male passenger had been ejected through the windshield as the vehicle collided with the trees.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 60 year-old female passenger had been partially ejected but was trapped.  Fire Rescue along with the RCMP worked to remove her safely from the wreckage.  Once freed she was transported to the Dawson Creek Hospital.

At this time the RCMP is still investigating the cause of the accident.
