The BCSPCA is reminding the public not to leave pets in a parked car on hot days.
With high temperatures occurring in the region, the temperature in parked car can reach a dangerously high level that could seriously harm or kill an animal.
The BCSPCA says that even if a car is parked in the shade with the windows partly down, pets can still suffer.
Since both dogs and cats sweat through their paws, if a car seat warms up enough, it can be difficult for them to cool themselves.
The SPCA says the best thing to do is to leave a pet at home in a shaded area with a full water bowl.
