Wiebo Ludwig has been unsuccessful in trying to stop a court application for a peace bond by three energy companies.

The Alberta eco-activist has attempted to block the bond made by Encana, Canadian Superior Energy and Seaview Energy Inc. to stop Ludwig, his son, Ben, and a friend of their family, Richard Boonstra to keep them away from their wells.

The companies said in their application that they had fears that the men could hurt company employees or damage their property.

Ludwig had tried to stop the application from going through but a provincial court judge in Grande Prairie ruled against him Friday.

The companies are expected to appear in court in January to make their case.

There have been six bombings of oil and gas facilities in the Northeastern B.C. region since late 2008.

Ludwig was arrested earlier this year and RCMP officers searched his property. He was later released without being charged.
