A Fort St. John man is dead following a motorcycle accident near Olds, Alberta.
On Friday July 2nd at 1:40pm, Olds RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Highway 27, approximately 13.5 miles east of Olds.
Larry Darrell Kientz of Fort St. John was traveling eastbound along Highway 27 and was operating a 2000 Honda Valkyrie Touring Motorcycle. While descending down a steep hill at Range Road 27.4 into a coulee, he hit a marked bump about 1/2 way down the hill. After hitting the bump, Kientz lost control of his motorcycle.
As a result of the investigation, alcohol and speed were determined not to be contributing factors in the collision. The driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, however it was not approved by safety standards.
