Local music hits the streets

Riding the bus becomes entertainment on Wednesday, when Fort St. John kicks off its very first "Music that Moves You."

From 7-9 p.m., some of Fort St. John’s most talented musicians will be serenading passengers on board the city’s buses.

Mayor Bruce Lantz says the event will reaffirm Fort St. John’s position as ‘Music Capital of Northern B.C.’ It will also give the public a chance to see local musicians in person, as well as promote the use of public transit itself.

Lantz says there will be eight musicians taking part in Wednesday’s inaugural spin, and there are more than a dozen more waiting in the wings for future events.

The musicians that will play on Wednesday include Lee Taylor & Henry See, Linday Pratt, Ryan Sebastiano, Shawna Lizotte, and Iyan Bruvold. Each will play a set of around 20 minutes or so.

To make the event even more accessible, hopping on the bus won’t cost music fans a thing.

The music-bus will be following the Central Route, and the City says music will be featured on the other two routes in future events (on July 21st and August 18th).
