A new system is in place to alert parents of school children when there is an emergency situation or problem at a North Peace school.
Jarrod Bell is the Principal of Technology for School District 60. He says parents and residents who sign up can receive alerts via their cell phone and/or email. Parents can also follow the alerts on the RSS feed or on Twitter at SD60alerts.
The system is designed so people can be notified if there is a school closure or bus emergency.
The system has been up since May 20, but Bell says only a few dozen people have signed up so far.
To sign up for alerts, people can go to www.prn.bc.ca/alerts.
