Peace River North MLA Pat Pimm has announced the Campbell government is supporting the partnership between the City and School District 60 to use the Enerplex for eight school classrooms.
The Eneplex renovation will allow the school district to move more grade ten students to high schools, and grade seven students to junior high schools.
That in turn will create more space at the elementary school level for full day kindergarten.
School Board Chair, Gordon Anderson says, "In addition to being innovative and educationally beneficial, this option is also the most cost effective way to address our space issues at this time".
The district will also receive two modular classrooms, which will be installed at two elementary school sites in the fall of next year.
Province wide plans call for full day kindergarten to be available for up to 50 percent of qualifying students in 2010, and for every five year old starting school in 2011.
