Local foods getting local push

By Kimberley Molina

A growing event is giving local foods a big push.

The Taste of the Town promotoes locally grown food and encourages people to try different dishes at participating restaurants.

Jody Howatt, a visitor services representative, says people can have lunch or dinner at the restaurants and try dishes that are from the Peace River area.

The event was started in 2009 and Howatt says the number of participating restaurants has increased over the first year from two to five.

The restaurants participating in this year’s event are the Uptown Grill, Ship to Shore, The Dish Bistro, Tim and Tyc’s, and Whole Wheat and Honey.

The menu list for each restaurant can be viewed here.

The event runs until Saturday.
