Provincial Chamber Adopts Local Chamber's Level Playing Field Proposal

There was confirmation today that the Local Chamber of Commerce, “Level Playing Field” policy proposal has been adopted into the Provincial Chamber’s policy manual.

Thus it will now go forward to the senior governments and the province will be asked to implement a regulation system to ensure BC regulations are followed by out-of-province firms doing work in this province.

Meantime, Ottawa will be asked to develop effective systems which ensure all work performed in BC by out-of-province firms is invoiced with the full…soon to be implemented…12 percent Harmonized Sale Tax, regardless of where the companies offices are located outside of BC.

The local Chamber drew support for the policy proposal from both the Dawson Creek and Chetwynd Chambers and is now inviting the two Peace River MLA’s, to meet with local area stakeholders to discus stategies to forward the initiative.
