BC Hydro crews are working to fix the over 60 power outages in the BC Peace Region.
As of 1pm (PST), over 5,700 customers are without power in the BC Peace Region.  In the latest update from BC Hydro, they are calling for the outages in the Fort St. John area to be restored by 8pm and the outages in the Dawson Creek area to be restored by 11pm.
Area Manager Dan Von Holland says Hydro crew will have more accurate times after a meeting this afternoon.  Crews have also been called in from surrounding areas to help restore power after a snowstorm hit the region on Friday night and Saturday morning.  Some residents have been without power since 6pm Friday.
Von Holland says some rural residents may not get power until Sunday or Monday as the wet snow has damaged a lot of power lines and trees.  The largest outages in the Fort St. John area is affecting residents near Baldonel.  Over 1,200 customers are without power in that area after the outage started at 5am Saturday.  Two other outages are affecting over 400 customers each and in the areas of Cecil Lake and Rose Prairie.
The South Peace has been harder hit by the snow storm.  The largest outage is affecting over 600 customers near Arras.
